Stagecoach Newcastle
Many of the buses are easyACCESS. These buses have special zones where buggies and shopping trolleys can be safely parked. Many of the buses are also wheelchair accessible.
Over the last nine years, we have invested more than £30m on 288 easyACCESS buses for customers throughout the North East. easyACCESS buses now account for over half of our entire fleet, and this number is rising each year.
All new buses purchased by Stagecoach North East will be easyACCESS buses.
easyACCESS buses feature:
- Low entrances that kneel to kerb height.
- Flat floor at the front.
- Special buggy parking area.
-
- Space for a wheelchair.
- Clean and spacious interiors.
Our drivers are also specially trained to help everyone enjoy the full benefits of these buses.
For people with disabilities...
We aim to offer a consistently high standard of service to all our customers and ensure that as many people as possible are able to make use of our services.
On-board access for Mobility Scooters
We regret to inform our customers we can not currently allow mobility scooters on board Stagecoach North East buses. Statutory requirements necessitate that we must keep the designated wheelchair space on our buses free for its intended use as best we can. In this situation, and given the variety of scooter models and sizes, we can not accurately judge whether we would be able to accommodate all types and would not wish to discriminate on this basis. We hope, in time, that there will be progress in standardising scooter models to make them more "bus-friendly." In this way we look forward to one day successfully integrating this mode of transport alongside existing reserved space for wheelchair users.
